The lenses
Bessamatic & Ultramatic

On this page you can see the different lenses for both the Bessamatic and the Ultramatic. Lenses that are made for use on the Ultramatic have been marked by Voigtländer by a small painted yellow dot on one of the small screws on the lens bayonet. These lenses will engage the automatic aperture control on Ultramatic whereas other lenses without the yellow dot will not. However they can stille be used without any problems, just only in manual mode on the Ultramatic. Of course all Ultramatic "yellow dot" lenses can be used on Bessamatic.

My collection of Voigtländer lenses are not complete yet. For example I am still looking for the 40mm Skopagon, the awesome 350mm Super-Dynarex and of course the unique Zoomar lens designed by Heinz Kilfitt, so please don't regard this page as a complete reference list, but merely as a description of the items that are currently in my collection. I have chosen to show the lenses on the Bessamatic "DeLuxe" and the Bessamatic "M", but it could might as well be on either of the Bessamatic or Ultramatic models. All the Voigtländer lenses shown below are "yellow dot" lenses.

  Schneider-Kreuznach lenses

If you love your Bessamatic or Ultramatic, why not expand your lens collection considerably by adding those wonderful Schneider-Kreuznach lenses that were made for the Retina Reflex SLR's and the Retina IIIS rangefinder ?. Yes, its possible, but you have to modify the bayonet on the lenses and add a small cut-away to the bayonet. Some may argue, that this ruins the originality of the Retina lenses, and that is true. On the otherhand, if your are a Bessamatic user, it is an almost irresistable option, and if you care too much for your Retina lenses and wish to keep them 100% original you can just collect a second set for use on the Voigtländers. Both the versatile 45mm Xenar and the 50mm 2,0 Xenon are truly desirable for the Bessamatic. You can probably find both the Xenon 50mm and the Tele-Arton much cheaper than the Voigtländer originals. Many of these beautiful Retina lenses are not very expensive, and I have seen both the 135mm Tele-Xenar and the 35mm Curtagon on eBay for as little as 25,- Euro. Yeah I know; I still got to get to modify a 35mm Curtagon and a 200mm Tele-Xenar. The modification of the Schneider-Kreuznach lenses are described in details on the following webpage made by Rick Oleson (a must see page !!), and you can actually do this yourself if you're careful. Be careful ! ;-)
